Jeff joined the brewing industry in 1990 with a degree in Biochemistry and 8 years’ experience in the Food and Biotech industries. In a 30-year career with Lion, Jeff held many roles across Brewing and Technical including Head Brewer at the Tooheys and Malt Shovel Breweries in Sydney. Jeff also commissioned breweries in China, supported licensed brewing operations in UK and Italy and managed the integration of licensed brewing of Heineken and Becks beers in Australia. As Lion’s Brewing Development Director Jeff managed new product and process development for the Lion group and led technical project liaison and exchange programs with Kirin’s technical teams in Japan. 

Jeff joined the (then) IOB in 1991 and completed his Diploma in Brewing with the John S Ford Award in 1995. Jeff joined the Asia Pacific section committee in 2003, becoming Section Chair from 2010 to 2016 and was awarded IBD Fellowship in 2017. After leaving Lion in 2019, Jeff returned to the IBD to support implementation of the new on-line training materials and examinations across Asia Pacific before taking over as Secretary / Executive Manager in 2021.
