The Midland Section invites Midland section exam candidates taking the Diploma in Brewing Module 2 (June 2025 exam) to an exam preparation session. This event is designed to help you review key syllabus topics, identify critical points to cover in your answers, and gain valuable insights from experienced professionals.
What to expect
During this session, you will:
- Work alongside tutors and mentors to formulate responses for typical long-answer questions.
- Cover topics from all 9 units including:
- Raw Materials: Malt, Specialty Malts, Adjuncts, Water, Hops
- Brewing Process and Technology: Milling, Mashing, Wort Separation, Wort Boiling, Wort Clarification/Cooling/Oxygenation
- Go on a guided tour of the University of Nottingham's state-of-the-art 10 hl Process Research Brewery during the lunch break.
There is an on-site shop offering hot and cold drinks, light snacks, or feel free to bring your own.

- Safety shoes and safety glasses are required. Please bring your own for the tour.
- Accessibility requirements: Please let us know ahead of time if you have any specific needs.
Tutors
This event was put together to help CIBD candidates deepen their understanding of the exam material and it will be led by experienced industry professionals:
- Zane Barnes - CIBD Life Fellow, Hon Assoc Professor, University of Nottingham
- Mike Sayer - CIBD Master Brewer
- And possibly a third tutor to join the session, TBC.
