About Cooper King Distillery

Cooper King Distillery is a self-built, crowd-funded distillery in Sutton-on-the-Forest, York, producing sustainable spirits distilled with craftsmanship, honesty and adventure. It’s the first in England to produce carbon-negative gin and net zero energy whisky, and the first in Europe to join environmental initiative 1% for the Planet.

Producing gin, vodka and whisky, they run on 100% renewable energy and are champions of sustainability. They work closely with Yorkshire farmers, distil using locally grown grain and botanicals, opted for lightweight recycled glass bottles, developed plastic free postage and plant one square metre of UK woodland or wildflower habitat for every bottle sold.

Founded in 2016 by Dr Abbie Neilson, a former scientist and Chris Jaume, a chartered architect, the venture was inspired by travels to Australia and Chris’s adventurous great-great-grandfather, Charles Cooper King, whose family has rich historical ties to Yorkshire dating back to 1030.

Why you should attend:

  • Hear how the founders Abbie and Chris, inspired by their travels returned to the UK to set up a sustainable business in Yorkshire.
  • A chance to sample the spirits produced in small batches on site
  • Network with CIBD members and guests enjoying a light supper.

Tickets: FREE. Includes a light supper and soft drinks after the tour and tasting. Please state any dietary requirements during the booking process on Eventbrite. Click here to register.

Booking deadline: FRIDAY, 9 May at 4pm.
