Join us for an exclusive CIBD members-only event at Ahascragh Distillery!
Experience a guided tour of Ahascragh Distillery, Ireland’s first eco-distillery of scale, and discover the latest innovations in sustainable distilling. The event will begin with a welcome lunch, followed by a distillery tour.
To conclude, Barbara Woods from Maynooth Universities Chemistry Department will lead an expert session on spirit quality analysis and congener detection, providing valuable insights into the science behind spirits.
Speaker
Barbara Woods – Technical Officer – Maynooth University, Chemistry Department
Barbara Woods has been working at Maynooth University since 2001 and is currently serving as Chief Technical Officer in the Chemistry Department. Barbara holds a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Production and obtained her General Certificate in Distilling from the CIBD in 2019 and completed two modules as part of the Diploma in Distilling. Barbara is also the course leader for the Micro-credential on Quality Aspects of Brewing & Distilling at Maynooth University. Over the past decade, she has been providing Gas Chromatography (GC) analysis services to Irish distilleries as well as having lectured on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
