Southern and Midland Section: Social meeting at Hook Norton Brewery

By the Southern and Midland Section

THURSDAY, 1 May 2025

3:45pm - 10pm

Hook Norton Brewery

Brewery Lane, Banbury OX15 5NY

How to get there

Join us for a social meeting of the Southern and Midlands Sections, featuring an exclusive tour of Hook Norton Brewery! Explore this traditional Victorian ‘tower’ brewery, where the brewing process flows from floor to floor - mashing at the top, boiling in the middle, and fermentation and racking at the bottom.

After the tour, enjoy light food (ploughman’s plates) and refreshment beverages (beer) before diving into two research presentations by Dr Grzegorz Rachon, Brewing Microbiologist:

  • Survival of pathogens in low and no alcohol beers
  • Using yeast ascospores as bioindicators for optimising pasteurisation in both standard and low/no alcohol beers

To round off the evening, we’ll take a short walk down the road to The Pear Tree (OX15 5NU), a traditional country village pub, to continue socialising and networking over a drink or two.
